Kick It Out Tournament 2006

TTFC held
its 2nd KIO (Kick It Out) Tournament on Saturday
21st October 2006 at Thames Rugby Club in
Ockendon.
The KIO Initiative is football’s anti –
racism campaign.
The brand name of the campaign – Let’s
Kick Racism Out Of Football – was established
in 1993.
Kick It Out works throughout the football, educational
and community sectors to challenge racism and work
for positive change within the beautiful game of
football.
In addition to the KIO Initiative TTFC decided to
donate half of the proceeds raised on the day to
the British Heart Foundation.

TTFC was fortunate again to have the support
of the London FA who not only allowed us to have
the FA Cup and The Community Shield for the day
but we also had Sir Trevor Brooking open the Tournament.
The Tournament attracted 32 teams in the following
age groups; Under 9’s, 10’s , 11’s
and 12’s. The weather held out and it did
not start raining until after all the games had
been played.
Those that were not participating in the Tournament
had the opportunity to have their photograph taken
with either the FA Cup or The Community Shield,
or enjoy the refreshments and bar facilities,
or have a bounce on the bouncy castle or try and
win one of the many raffle prizes up for grabs.
The day was an absolute success and TTFC would
like to thank Koye Sowemimo from the FA for his
continued support to the Club, Roger Day and every-body
at Thames Rugby Club for all their hard work in
making the day possible and TRUST for their continued
help and support – it was all much much
appreciated.
TTFC’s KIO Tournament raised £1060.15
for the British Heart Foundation. Thank you to
every-one who contributed to this very worth while
cause.

Kick It Out Tournament 2005
Thurrock
Tigers Roar For Charity!
Thurrock Tigers Football Club held their first ever
mini soccer Tournament on Saturday 15th October
2005 at William Edwards School and Sports College.
The Tournament was held to raise awareness of the
Kick Racism Out of Football Initiative. The KIO
Campaign is a national initiative – which
is supported by every single professional football
club in England and Wales.
The Tournament attracted 24 teams in total in 3
age groups – Under 9’s, Under 10’s
and Under 11’s. The winning teams were presented
by winners medals and team trophies. In addition
the FA provided some fantastic prizes to the youngsters
– the under 9’s player of the tournament
will be a mascot at a forthcoming England match
and the player of the tournament in the Under 11’s
was given 2 tickets to a forthcoming England Game.
The FA supported the Tournament by bringing the
FA Cup to the event . The youngsters and (some
of the oldies) took the opportunity to have their
photograph taken with the FA Cup. |
 |
The event
was attended by over 600 people and the weather
could not have been better.
All proceeds raised from the event – which
totalled £1210 will be donated to CLIC (Cancer
& Leukaemia in Childhood) and The Oncology Room
at Wagtail Ward at Basildon Hospital. These monies
will be presented to the charities in the very near
future. Additionally through the Fund Raising
involvement of local resident (and players father)
Greg Simpson at this event, he has been granted
through the LloydsTSB Foundations Matched Giving
Scheme (http://www.lloydstsbfoundations.org.uk/matchedgiving)
for another £400, to be donated to CLIC. The
club has taken the decision to split all monies
raised on the day, equally between the two charities.

 |
The
Club would like to thank everybody who attended
and all the volunteers who helped to make the day
special. The Club has been encouraged by requests
by various parties to repeat the Tournament next
year. So watch this space! |
Both CLIC and the Oncology Department have asked
TTFC to pass on their thanks and appreciation to all
who took part in the KIO Tournament.
